My goal in teaching is to help students view a familiar world from different vantages and to equip them to question and describe what they see with new language and tools. My courses in media and communications studies are interdisciplinary in nature, with emphasis on a critical reading of a range of academic and popular media as well as practical skills building, which I believe go hand-in-hand in the most effectual classrooms and labs. To this end my courses are designed as workshops where I encourage students to interact, collaborate, and learn from each other as much I proffer guidance and formal instruction, whether in media production sequences or courses in critical media analysis.
