Misha Mariam
Assistant Professor
I am an Assistant Professor of Management & Organization. I received my Ph.D. from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, Seattle, and joined the faculty at UW Bothell in 2020.
My research examines how individual characteristics, interpersonal dynamics, and organizational practices shape workplace experiences and outcomes. My published work has examined the effects of leadership attributes on organizational strategies, the implications of mindfulness for memory and ethical behavior, the processes through which global virtual teams navigate challenges, and the influence of organizational practices on employee well-being and performance. My current research focuses on employee mental health, exploring how individual cognitive processes, workplace dynamics, and organizational practices influence employee well-being and performance. Through this work, I seek to advance understanding of the psychological and social processes that shape workplace experiences and identify ways organizations can foster healthier, more effective, and more supportive work environments. Other ongoing projects examine employee identity transitions during organizational change and status dynamics in teams.
My work has been published in leading peer-reviewed management journals, including Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Management, Business and Society Review, and Critical Perspectives on International Business. I regularly present my research at the Academy of Management and serve as a reviewer for leading management journals, including Organization Science, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of International Management, and Journal of Business Ethics.
I teach Organizational Behavior, Ethics, & Inclusivity and Managing Teams to undergraduate students. In these courses, students engage in quarter-long projects examining real organizational issues, collecting data to diagnose problems, and developing evidence-based solutions. I also supervise internships and independent studies and advise several student clubs.
