Teaching Interests

Miryha believes that the best learning happens when classrooms become spaces for genuine dialogue and critical thinking. She views students as experts on the health of their communities through their lived experiences, and she uses a mix of multimedia, hands-on activities, and collaborative projects to help them connect those experiences with course concepts and real-world problems—especially issues of social and environmental justice. Miryha is deeply committed to knowing her students as individuals and adapting her teaching to meet them where they are, creating an inclusive environment where every voice is valued and students don’t just learn content, but become empowered to make a difference in their communities.

Research and Scholarship Interests

Miryha’s scholarship focuses on the positive health benefits of nature experiences, such as psychological restoration and stress reduction. One goal of her research is to improve health by working to ensure equitable access to green spaces in communities. Miryha’s research interests also include the scholarship of teaching and learning in public health with a particular focus on how students best learn public health information.
