Research and Scholarship Interests
Dr. Neal is a member of the Minnesota Consortium for Nursing Education Research (MCNER), which conducted a pilot and full-scale study titled Enhancing Clinical Reasoning: Teaching Thinking Through Debriefing. This work was supported by competitive funding, including a St. Olaf College Faculty Development Grant, the Debra L. Spunt Grant from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), and the Sigma Theta Tau Chi-at-Large Chapter Scholarship Award. Findings were disseminated through regional, national, and international presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Her scholarly interests include nursing education strategies, developmental care for preterm infants in the NICU, and complementary therapies. She also received a scholarship through the Minnesota Holistic Nurses Association (MHNA) and the SNHS Behavioral Health Faculty Development Award at UW-Bothell.
