My primary goal in teaching is to show students how applicable the content they are learning is in whatever career path they choose. I believe in collaborative hands-on learning: students in my courses can expect to work together on activities during class instead of listening to me lecture. Historically, I have taught primarily non-majors so it is really rewarding to be able to share my love for courses that are traditionally seen as boring and unnecessarily challenging. I know not everybody will come away from my courses loving statistics and data science, but I do hope to make it approachable and relevant.

My research revolves around statistics and data science education. I enjoy research within natural classroom settings that is clearly applicable to my work as an educator. My goal is to find effective ways to teach students to communicate with data.

Food (cooking, eating, elaborate themed dinner parties), trivia at local breweries, karaoke, live theatre and music, and arts and crafts.
