School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences

Alumni

IAS alumni are the embodiment of interdisciplinarity. Our graduates work across diverse roles and sectors addressing complex issues, creating new knowledge, and making a difference in the world.  We are deeply proud of our alumni and committed to supporting their continued success.  In this spirit, IAS offers multiple opportunities for alumni to engage with its programs and community.

Alumni Opportunities

Alumni, while your relationship with IAS begins as a student, it’s a lifelong connection.  IAS is here to celebrate your accomplishments, support your professional development, and provide opportunities to stay connected. We invite you to engage with us in the following ways.

Stay Informed

IAS news and events are featured on our website and highlighted in our quarterly e-newsletter. Help ensure that we have your current email address by completing the Stay Connected to IAS form.

IAS regularly hosts lectures, conferences, panels, and social events.  Visit our calendar and subscribe to receive weekly email notifications on upcoming events.  You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

Get Involved

IAS is developing opportunities for alumni to engage with us.  Would you like to mentor students, host an intern, volunteer, or connect with other alumni?  Share your interest by completing the Stay Connected to IAS form or contacting Alumni and Community Relations Manager Lisa Olason at lolason@uw.edu or (425) 352-3136.

Share Your Story

How has interdisciplinary education impacted your career and life?  IAS wants to hear your story!  Complete the Stay Connected with IAS form and a staff member will contact you to learn more.  Some of our alumni have shared their stories and offered career advice to current students through IAS Mentor Chats.

Grow Your Career

IAS encourages alumni to utilize resources offered by the UW Bothell Career Center, including counseling services and free events and workshops.  Visit Career Center Alumni Services for resources to support your career development.

IAS offers three graduate degrees: a Master of Arts in Cultural Studies, a Master of Arts in Policy Studies, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Poetics.  These degrees share a commitment to linking theory and practice, allowing graduates to move directly into careers or to pursue further education at the doctoral level.  Alumni may explore funding options through free events and workshops offered by UWB Merit Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards.

For those interested in the nonprofit sector, IAS co-sponsors the Certificate in Nonprofit Management which provides the knowledge and skills to pursue or advance a career in this field.
