a Discovery Core Experience

BCORE 117 (Arts & Humanities)

About This Course

Contemporary photography draws inspiration from many different mediums of art. Homage, tribute, borrowing, copying, ripping-off –however you label it, the inspiration often comes in many forms. In this course we’ll examine contemporary photography and its influences.

What Will We Be Doing?

Students will explore and research different works of art ranging from the 14th Century paintings of Bosch to the contemporary photographs of Joel-Peter Witkin. Students will also learn basic photographic skills, discover present-day photographers, undertake an art history focused research project, and begin creating a photographic portfolio.
