UW Bothell to honor vets

veterans reception

The University of Washington Bothell honors veterans with a reception Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Activities and Recreation Center. The campus and surrounding communities are invited to thank veterans from among our students, faculty and staff for their service to our country.

The event features a speech from Army Capt. Aaron Thacker, a UW Bothell graduate (liberal studies ’98) who has served in public affairs and military police with deployments in Iraq, Egypt and Afghanistan.

The reception 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday is free but registration is requested.

To help veterans look toward their future, UW Bothell Career Services and the Student Veterans Association are hosting a chat Wednesday with advice on strong applications to internships, jobs or graduate school. The chat is 2 – 3:30 p.m. in UW1-103, before the reception.

This year the University of Washington Bothell has 281 students who are military veterans or eligible for veterans benefits (about a third are spouses or children of veterans.) Resources are available through the office of veterans services.
