Admissions Criteria

In addition to specific admission requirements, the IAS Undergraduate Admission Committee looks for coursework relevant to the IAS curriculum (see the course catalogue), and a well-written and thoughtful goal statement that addresses:

  • The reason(s) why the applicant wants to complete a four-year degree
  • Why the applicant has chosen the IAS program.
  • Long-term goals and aspirations
  • Any special circumstances
To ensure consideration for admission, the application and all supplemental materials must be received by the Admissions Office by the Priority Application Date listed. Applications received and/or completed after the Priority Application Date will be considered for admission on a space available basis. Please visit the Degree Program for more information.

Grades are considered, with more weight given to grades in relevant coursework and grades in later coursework. Applicants who are deficient in Intermediate Algebra and/or Foreign Language will not be considered until the deficiency has been completed.

Matriculated Status

With the exception of the General Electives, courses taken to satisfy the requirements of IAS majors must be completed in matriculated status.
