Putting the fun in fundraising

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the UW Bothell Alumni Council will host its signature Husky football viewing party. Proceeds from the viewing party, which is hosted in partnership with Technology Access Foundation (TAF) and the School of Educational Studies, will support teacher equity in Washington state. Grads become community partners

Some University of Washington Bothell alumni become community partners. Nora Karena, master’s in cultural studies (MACS ’14), is now director of housing services for YWCA in Snohomish County. Mike Irons, master’s in public policy program (MAPS ’13), is programs manager for Snohomish County Juvenile Court in Everett.

Where are they now? Justin Gill at Yale

Justin Gill, who earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2013 at University of Washington Bothell, is now a student in the doctor of nursing practice program at Yale where he expects to graduate in 2019. Gill says his classes at UW Bothell taught him to consider broader concepts in health care and nursing.

Perfect day for alumni 5K, block party

Nearly 650 people ran or walked in the 11th annual 5K, and more than 1,000 took part in the second annual block party and brewfest. Spring weather was perfect May 7, and together the alumni weekend events raised about $12,000 for student scholarships.

Husky 5K supports student scholarships

Runners in the University of Washington Bothell 5k Run/Walk are not only enjoying a brisk outing with friends they’re also supporting students with much-appreciated scholarships. The event has raised more than $150,000 since its inception and it’s now a part of the UW’s Dawg Dash series.

A principal who earned her master’s degree in leadership at University of Washington Bothell was recently honored as one of 18 to receive the Washington State Regional Distinguished Principal award from the Association of Washington School Principals. The University of Washington Bothell's second annual Diversity and Inclusion Conference drew hundreds of attendees from across campus and the broader community. Alum’s business destroyed in blast

The Mr. Gyros shop owned by University of Washington Bothell alum Sammy Arsheed – also the operator of a popular food truck on campus -- was one of the businesses destroyed in an early-morning natural gas explosion Wednesday in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. Seattle neighbors and friends from UW Bothell are offering support, including pages set up at fundly.com.
