Borsuk, Carlisle named 2016 Worthington scholars

Amaranth Borsuk and Shauna Carlisle are the winners of the 2016 Worthington Distinguished Scholar awards. Both are assistant professors in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.

The awards arise from the fund established by the late Richard and Lois Worthington to promote excellence and scholarship at UW Bothell.

"This investment in two exceptional UW Bothell faculty is one of the most visible ways our university community rewards and promotes innovation and excellence in scholarship,” said Carolyn Brennan, assistant vice chancellor, research. “Professors Borsuk and Carlisle are headed for great things, so keep your eye on them!"

The funding will support Borsuk’s research on the history of the book as a technology, medium of communication and cultural ideal. Carlisle will advance her health study of black immigrant women in Washington and why racially related stress matters in health disparities.
