This Year in Sustainability

This year marks one of great progress for our campus and our community. New Solar Energy Installation Coming Summer 2014

May 20th, 2014

This summer will see the construction of the fourth solar-photovoltaic installation here at UW Bothell / Cascadia CC. The 99.84 kW project, to be installed on the majority of the LB2 building roof, is the result of a $553,000 WA State Dept. of Commerce Grant, the single largest award of the more than $14 million given away through this round of grant awards!


Commuter Calculator Now Live!

Bike to Work Day 2014

This year, Bike to Work day is taking place on May 16th, and once again, UW Bothell Commuter Services will be hosting a commuter celebration station at the Chase House! Join in the fun from 6am-9am.


Earth Day 2014, April 22nd

Spring in upon us here at UW Bothell. The wetlands are alive with new growth, and budding flowers are beginning to bloom all across campus. As part of welcoming the sun and new season, we will be hosting a day of activities surrounding Earth Day, sponsored by our Student Sustainability Organization.


New Electronic Recycling Initiative

February 10th, 2014

Students, faculty and staff may now recycle small electronics on campus, thanks to a new partnership between UW Bothell and Waste Management. Items that can be recycled include printer cartridges and small electronics including mp3 players, phones, cameras and laptops. Bins are located in UW1 and UW2.


Sustainability Made Simpler

Between new recycling, compost, and waste stations on campus, to removing paper towels from campus bathrooms and replacing them with high-efficiency hand driers, UW Bothell Facilities Services makes every effort to incorporate sustainability into its everyday practices.


Warren Gold Wins Ecology Award

The 2013 Special Award from the Society for Ecological Restoration-Northwest chapter goes to the UW Restoration Ecology Network founded by UW Bothell’s Warren Gold. The network connects students with community partners to complete ecological restoration projects.


UW Bothell Efforts Contribute to Sierra Club 'Cool Schools' Ranking

  • All campus lighting is high-efficient, 277 volt, with electronic ballasts.
  • Our campus uses only green cleaning products.
  • We have 58 acres of restored wetlands requiring 5,300 hours of labor to maintain.
