Many courses across the UW Bothell curriculum and the research of our faculty emphasize a global perspective. One of our signature programs it the UW COIL Initiative, an effort to deepen global engagement of students in the classroom, without requiring travel abroad, by implementing online collaboration with international partners. Six UW Bothell instructors are working to implement COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) into a new or existing course to be implemented 2017-18. Fellows participate in a series of community of practice meetings and receive $1,200 upon completion of the program.
The Fall 2016 issue of IIE Networker magazine focuses on virtual exchange. “Initiating and Sustaining University-Wide COIL Programs: Steps to Success” features the work of UW Bothell in implementing globally connected courses using technology throughout the curriculum.
