How philanthropy supports student belonging and well-being
For this year’s Husky Giving Day, we’re highlighting how philanthropy strengthens student well‑being at UW Bothell.
In this feature, we’re focusing on a few students whose health, resilience and overall wellness have been uplifted by the compassionate, student‑centered community at UW Bothell. Their experiences reflect how philanthropy directly contributes to a healthier, stronger and more connected campus. Student well-being, powered by you.

“Throughout my academic journey, I have faced multiple challenges, including job layoffs and eviction notices. Despite these obstacles, I remained focused on my education, earning placement on the Dean’s List in multiple years. UW Bothell’s supportive and student‑centered environment has played an important role in helping me stay resilient and motivated. Your support restores my confidence that I am not alone in this journey.”

“[Visiting the Counseling Center] helped me appreciate life a little more. My counselor just gave me some great insight that my problems weren’t the end of the world. She told me to be patient and to forgive myself.
“I feel like telling students that we’re not robots, we’re all humans and we’re going to go through things. And it’s okay that we’re sad or we’re mad or we feel all these emotions. I think it’s important for students to take a step back and realize they’re not alone.”

“Receiving a scholarship has had a profound impact on my life. Financially, it helped cover my UW quarter tuition and address unmet financial aid needs, allowing me to purchase required textbooks and fully engage in my coursework without constant financial stress. Academically and personally, this support gave me peace of mind and the freedom to focus on learning, growth and maintaining a strong GPA. Knowing that I did not have to worry about finances made a significant difference in my overall well‑being as a student.”
