BA: Media and Communications

In life, my inability to find a quote to summarize myself has always been in the back of my mind, but as I grew I realized there is no perfect quote because no one knows me like I know myself. Then I found a quote by Shia LaBeouf and I realized I was wrong, there is a perfect quote for me. He says, “I don’t know, I just want to be happy. I could be in a hole somewhere. Or I could completely lose it and be some hippy living in the wood with my dad.” This is, to me, writing in its entirety. I will always write because it makes me happy, no matter the situation.

Being a first-year graduate student in the Creative Writing and Poetics MFA, I spend my time in various ways. As a student I spend 90% of my time reading and 10% of my time writing. As a person I spend 33% of my time reading poetry, 33% writing poetry, and 34% going on short trips around Washington with my girlfriend. As a peer consultant I spend 100% of my time trying to help students improve their work.

In my own practice I focus on poetry but having just finished a BA in Media and Communication Studies with a minor in Creative Writing you can be certain that I spent the past four years writing all sorts of things all the time. While I spent hours writing, I also spent a lot of time revising. This is why I’m here at the WaCC. Whether it be creative writing, research-based work, or any other type of project I would love to help improve it in any way I can!

The WaCC is the perfect place for me because I get to be surrounded by writing all the time. Hopefully it’s a great place for you too, whoever is reading this, to come and get help on whatever you may need.
