This year's UW Bothell Virtual Husky 5K raised $14,800 to support the UW Bothell COVID-19 Student Emergency Fund. We couldn't be more proud! On behalf of the UW Bothell Alumni Council, thank you for ensuring the health, safety and success of UW Bothell students.
ICYMI: More than 830 participants from 24 states participated, including hundreds of virtual posts. Take a look at the Tagboard below, or search #virtualhusky5k to scroll....and scroll....and scroll.
When do we start?
Whenever you’re ready! Of course, you can do the 5K whenever you’d like, but to maximize the sense of togetherness, you’ll want to participate and share your content today.
Where do we participate?
Below you’ll find a 35 minute long video, timed for a 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 minute mile pace. If you’re participating on a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, etc., just hit “play” to move along to footage from the actual 5K route and past live events. You’ll also find a 6 minute long interactive video for kids – we hope they enjoy it!

Route planning apps
If you’re taking the race outdoors (following guidelines for safe social distancing, of course), the route is yours to build! You can consider using apps like Adidas Runtastic (look for the UW Bothell group!), Strava, and Map My Run to plan your route.
Going outdoors or opting out of the video? We created a free Spotify playlist with the music from the video. Trust us, it's worth checking out.
Where do I log my time?
Although not required, you can upload your time to our Google form:
Log my time
Note that this year we opted for finishers medals in lieu of offering medals to the top runners in each category. Although no category medals will be awarded, sharing your time here is a great way to create community and friendly competition!
#virtualhusky5k – Social media challenge!
Want the chance to win a gold sparkle Starbucks tumbler? Join in the challenge and help us create a sense of togetherness and community today!
To participate, set your social media posts to “public,” use the hashtag #virtualhusky5k with every post you share on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, and complete the following (each post counts as one entry):
- Post a photo holding the “I support the UW Bothell COVID-19 Student Emergency Fund” sign, and tag one of the sponsors listed
- Post a photo/video posing with the Husky 5K shirt and medal
- Share a sponsor post from the UW Bothell Husky 5K Facebook page (or from the UW Bothell Alumni Facebook or Instagram pages)
- BONUS: if you live near Bothell, Woodinville, Kenmore or Kirkland, you may see some Husky 5K road signs cheering you on. Snap a photo of yourself next to one of the signs and tag the sponsor pictured.
REMEMBER: we can’t see your posts unless you’ve made them public and used the #virtualhusky5k hashtag. Doing both ensures you’re entered to win a tumbler (limit 2 per household) and that your photos and videos appear on the Tagboard on this page.
Questions? We’ve got a team on standby. Send any questions or concerns to email@example.com.
An enormous thanks to our very generous sponsors, without which this fundraiser would not be possible!
