Earth Week Goes Virtual Amid COVID-19

As with most activities during the coronavirus pandemic, organizers of the event have had to adapt to the stay-in-place regulations. Rather than invite the UW Bothell community to gather with more than 30 partners on our physical campus, Earth Week is going virtual.

Professor Dan Jaffe Named An EPA Clean Air Expert

Professor Dan Jaffe will be one of 12 experts to assist the federal agency’s Chartered Clean Air Advisory Committee, providing technical expertise in a review of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for particulate matter and ozone.

Bees Represent UW Bothell Sustainability

Many students are scientifically introduced to bees by Amy Lambert, a lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, whose courses include Pollinator Diversity and Conservation. Started in 2012, the CCUWBee initiative, a collaboration of Cascadia College and the University of Washington Bothell was created to study diversity and abundance of native bees on campus, and support their populations.

W again on Green Honor Roll!

New Solar Energy Installation Coming Summer 2014

This summer will see the construction of the fourth solar-photovoltaic installation here at UW Bothell / Cascadia CC. The 99.84 kW project, to be installed on the majority of the LB2 building roof, is the result of a $553,000 WA State Dept. of Commerce Grant, the single largest award of the more than $14 million given away through this round of grant awards!

New Electronic Recycling Initiative
February 10th, 2014
Students, faculty and staff may now recycle small electronics on campus, thanks to a new partnership between UW Bothell and Waste Management. Items that can be recycled include printer cartridges and small electronics including mp3 players, phones, cameras and laptops. Bins are located in UW1 and UW2.

The 2013 Special Award from the Society for Ecological Restoration-Northwest chapter goes to the UW Restoration Ecology Network founded by UW Bothell’s Warren Gold. The network connects students with community partners to complete ecological restoration projects.
