The University has also developed two companion policies, Student Governance Policy, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/admin\/rules\/policies\/SGP\/SPCH209.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chapter 209<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/admin\/rules\/policies\/SGP\/SPCH210.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chapter 210<\/a>, which explain how student conduct proceedings work and a student\u2019s rights in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have questions or concerns regarding an alleged violation of the Student Conduct Code please reach out to the Student Conduct Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-200-color has-text-color\">Overview of Conduct Proceedings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Student conduct proceedings are designed to provide a prompt, fair and impartial process and to protect the rights of students and other individuals involved in the proceeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following is a brief overview of the student conduct process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Conduct Officer receives a report alleging a violation of the Student Conduct Code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A conduct proceeding will be initiated by the Conduct Officer. The fact finding process will focus on gathering all of the pertinent information necessary to determine whether or not a violation of the Student Conduct Code occurred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An investigative interview will be scheduled for the respondent to review the alleged violation(s) of the Student Conduct Code and the report with the Conduct Officer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the investigative interview, the respondent is provided with an overview of the Student Conduct Process and their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/cssc\/for-students\/student-rights\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">rights<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The respondent has the opportunity to provide their account of what occurred, present relevant evidence, and provide names of witnesses for further consideration by the Conduct Officer during the fact finding process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the fact finding process, the Conduct Officer may initiate a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/cssc\/for-students\/overview-of-the-student-conduct-process\/full-hearing\/\">full hearing<\/a> and the respondent will be notified of this decision. The respondent will then receive further information from the Hearing Officer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the conclusion of the fact finding process, the Conduct Officer will make a decision regarding whether there was a violation of the Student Conduct Code based on a \u201cpreponderance of evidence\u201d standard, and if so, the Conduct Officer will also determine what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/cssc\/for-students\/overview-of-the-student-conduct-process\/sanctions\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">sanctions<\/a> are appropriate for the violation(s). This written decision is called an Initial Order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The respondent has the option to request an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/cssc\/administrative-review\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">administrative review<\/a> of the decision within 21 days of service of the Initial Order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If an administrative review is not requested the Initial Order is considered final.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For more details about the student conduct process, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/admin\/rules\/policies\/SGP\/SPCH209.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Student Governance Policy, Chapter 209<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For sexual misconduct complaints the  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/compliance\/tixio\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Title IX Investigation Office<\/a> would be the office working with students to invsitigate that concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following are Sections of Chapter 209 and Chapter 210 \u2014 Student Governance and Policies that provide more information about conduct proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-200-color has-text-color\">Chapter 209 Student Governance and Policies \u2013 Student Conduct Policy for Academic Misconduct and Behavioral Misconduct<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/admin\/rules\/policies\/SGP\/SPCH209.html#6\" rel=\"nofollow\">Section 6.
