Members are responsible for reviewing proposals related to the $42\/quarter technology fee that each currently enrolled student pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some responsibilities of the STF Committee include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understand the STF bylaws and applicable state laws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make decisions about the STF, the Committee, and its bylaws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote STF and submitting proposals to students. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read proposals and come up with questions in advance of hearings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate and vote on proposals from the lens of impact on students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet weekly on Fridays from 2 to 4 PM in the winter and spring quarters. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allocate over $600,000 of STF funding each year. Alter proposals and add restrictions as need be.   <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proposals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals can be submitted by any current student, faculty, or staff member of UW Bothell. However, money from the fee is not used to fund items that would otherwise be funded by legislative or administrative funds. Funding for projects are made on a yearly basis. Each committee determines the funding for the following fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered proposals must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Show that the primary benefit is to students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not be contingent on subsequent years of funding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include a summary of student input, long-term plan for operation, and address issues of student accessibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please Note<\/strong>: The committee does not fund equipment used for classroom instruction, ongoing maintenance and supply costs, salary for full-time or part-time staff\/students; or wireless networking outside of the University\u2019s central deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions for submitting proposals:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read the following document:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwnetid.sharepoint.com\/:w:\/s\/og_uwbsao\/STF\/EVml841ZmKZOnU1_GFS7ADEBjtA0PB0Te_2aqIo8DqVA7g?e=oEf4Zq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STF Guidelines<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/uwnetid.sharepoint.com\/:w:\/s\/og_uwbsao\/EUdoB0iX0LpOuBXLOWkTEwsBv2m87GoqMXY3ySUzWVlang?e=qgF8eq\">STF Bylaws<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proposal success can be improved with an early consultation with IT. IT can provide guidance on compliant technology selection and filling out your proposal. Contact IT at uwbit@uw.edu for a consultation. At a minimum, all proposals will need email confirmations from for both IT and Facilities showing they have reviewed your proposal and you have address any concerns they have. STFC suggests that proposals be reviewed by Dan Sullivan of Facility Services (<a href=\"mailto:sullid@uw.edu\">sullid@uw.edu<\/a>) and IT (<a href=\"mailto:geren@uw.edu\">uwbit@uw.edu<\/a>) before being submitted. We recommend that you give these departments two weeks to review your proposal before you submit your application. They will then contact you with any concerns they may have that you can then address in your application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get a signed copy of from a Director, Dean, or Vice Chancellor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwnetid-my.sharepoint.com\/:w:\/g\/personal\/uwbstf_uw_edu\/ESv2eBO03MBJlP-zYFkV8g8BvEmb_AsNnxkeExyWmSi_PA?e=vZHWy9\">confirmation letter<\/a>&nbsp;verifying that their organization will take responsibility for the equipment purchased through the proposal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can use the following worksheet, as a reference for the questions which will be on the application form:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/student-affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2026\/03\/STF_Proposal_Form_Worksheet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worksheet<\/a>. This is strictly to preview the Microsoft Form question set.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the following&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uwnetid-my.sharepoint.com\/:x:\/g\/personal\/uwbstf_uw_edu\/EQ-sz74ZarVLmwnPvhcMDYEBb9ynMEznHnUiA4J1nPj_Jg?e=QvDdO7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">budget sheet<\/a>&nbsp;to document your proposed budget.
