Biology Alumnus Alfred Albear turned early experiences with emergency care into a purpose-driven path \u2014 first as a young patient relying on the ER as a safety net, and now as a dedicated medical professional working to ensure others don\u2019t fall through the cracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growing up in Los Angeles as the son of immigrant parents, he saw firsthand how critical emergency departments and free clinics are for families with limited access to care. Those early experiences sparked a passion that carried him from a decade-long career as an EMT to transferring to UW Bothell to pursue his Bachelor of Science in Biology<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Albear is a third-year medical student at the UW School of Medicine, bringing his lived experience and deep commitment to underserved communities into every patient interaction. His story is one of purpose, resilience and service.
