Are you ready to graduate?
Degrees are not automatically awarded when credit requirements have been satisfied, the student must apply for the degree or certificate.
- To apply for graduation, CSS students must fill out an application for graduation with one of the advisors (5-10 minute appointment).
- Applications are due the third Tuesday of the quarter in which the student intends to graduate - see academic calendar.
- Students graduating in Summer Quarter who plan to attend the Commencement ceremony must meet the Spring Quarter application deadline.
- Please keep the University informed of your correct email address in case of any problems with your graduation application.
Graduating Senior Priority (GSP)
If you are a graduating senior or post-baccalaureate student with a degree application on file in the Graduation and Academic Records Office, you may register on the first day of Registration Period I for your final two quarters. If you must postpone your graduation, you may save your priority quarters by not registering before your regular senior priority day. When you have used your Graduating Senior Priority for two quarters, you will revert to regular senior priority.
Baccalaureate Honors
Baccalaureate honors (summa cum laude, magna cum laude, cum laude) are awarded only to recipients of a first baccalaureate degree. These honors are earned by those students who have completed no fewer than 90 residence credits at this institution. At least 60 of the 90 credits must have been acquired on a graded basis.
The University's Honors Committee determines annually the grade-point requirement for each baccalaureate honor at each campus. In recent years, approximately ten percent of the students have been awarded baccalaureate honors. Credits earned by correspondence courses are not counted toward honors eligibility.
