Elaine Scott, Dean of the School of STEM

Dr. Elaine Scott is the dean of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math at the University of Washington Bothell.

Science and technology education at UW Bothell has risen to regional and national prominence since Scott's arrival. Discovery Hall, the new Science and Academic  Building, opened for classes in the fall of 2014. The School of STEM has introduced nine new degree programs since 2013.

Before joining Seattle Pacific University, Scott served as a professor in the department of mechanical engineering at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). At Virginia Tech she was responsible for the successful planning, development and initial leadership of a new interdisciplinary, multi-institutional school, the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest University, School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences.

Scott holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of California, Davis. She also holds doctoral degrees in agricultural engineering and mechanical engineering from Michigan State University.
