Please refer to the <a id=\"UW Office of Resarch GIM 19\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/policies\/gim-19-internal-deadlines-for-proposals-to-external-entities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UW Seattle Office of Research GIM 19 page<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>7-day deadline:<\/strong> business section and a final draft of the narrative is complete.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3-day deadline:<\/strong> entire proposal must be complete and ready to submit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"conflicts\">Conflicts of interest &amp; outside compensation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Washington has comprehensive policies concerning the broad spectrum of ethics issues that emerge in the complex and varied environment of University life. These policies reflect the underlying rationale, University expectations, and designated procedures for appropriate disclosure and review of conflicts of commitment and conflicts of interest, including financial interests that might bias or otherwise threaten the integrity of the results of sponsored projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/admin\/rules\/policies\/PO\/EO32.html\" id=\"Employee Conflict Policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UW Employee Responsibilities and Employee Conflict of Interest<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/forms-and-templates\/form-1460\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Form 1460: Staff &amp; Faculty Outside Work for Compensation<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a id=\"Financial Conflict of Interest Policy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/compliance\/financial-conflicts-of-interest-fcoi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/fids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disclosure System (FIDS)<\/a><a id=\"pi-eligibility\" name=\"pi-eligibility\"><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"reporting\">Reporting on externally sponsored projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty effort is the time faculty spend on their university activities, including research, instruction, administration, service and clinical activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy sets forth conditions for the documentation of effort for faculty and professional staff who receive compensation, in whole or in part, through a grant or sponsored agreement, or who have committed personnel costs as part of cost sharing obligation on a grant or sponsored agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a id=\"GIM 35 Effort Reporting Policy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/policies\/gim-35-effort-reporting-policy-for-sponsored-agreements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GIM 35: Effort Reporting Policy for Sponsored Agreements<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/finance.uw.edu\/maa\/node\/465\">The Future of Effort Reporting at the UW<\/a>: Employee Compensation Compliance Reporting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UW Bothell Sponsored Research policies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"principal\">Principal investigator eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UW Bothell has developed the following procedure for establishing Principal Investigator (PI) eligibility. PI eligibility is normally granted to UW employee categories as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tenure-track faculty (eligible or has tenure)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching-track faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research-track faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professor-of-practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artist-in-residence &amp; senior artist-in-residence faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PNNL dual appointments who have UW affiliate faculty status per an MOU between UW and Battelle Memorial Institute Pacific Northwest Division (note that these are the only affiliate faculty who are normally granted PI eligibility).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research scientist\/engineer (RSE) at Level 4 may submit requests to submit a grant or contract as a UW PI in writing to their dean no later than 60 days prior to the proposal submission deadline. These requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The dean will provide a written response to the RSE no later than 30 days prior to the proposal submission deadline. When there are less than 60 days to proposal submission date, expedited processing can be requested. The University may exercise its discretion in designating the PI for any proposal, irrespective of the contributions to the development of the proposal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*Note<\/strong>: Employees holding other UW job titles must contact their dean (if applicable) and their appropriate vice chancellor to request an exception on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility to serve as a PI does not guarantee the University will approve any proposal developed by the PI-eligible employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"course\">Course buyouts, overload &amp; more<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UW Bothell provides information related to course buyouts, overload, cancellations and more.
