The WEST-B is the Washington Educator Skills Test (Basic). It consists of three parts: reading, writing, and mathematics. Any QSC tutor who can tutor pre-calculus or above should be able to help with topics contained in the mathematics portion of the test. We recommend students make an appointment at the Writing and Communication Center for help with the reading and writing portions.
For the QSC tutors, it is helpful if the student brings in some sample problems to work through, or a list of mathematical topics they would like to brush up on. The official WEST-B site offers a selection of sample problems and solutions, as well as a full list of all the tested topics. The site also offers a list of test taking strategies.
You don't need to make an appointment to come get help preparing for the WEST-B. Just come to the QSC!
