About This Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This course provides an introduction to the principles of chronic toxicity and health. It surveys multiple scientific domains: physiology, biochemistry, toxicology, and sustainability. Its focus is on everyday exposures and the role of these exposures on health. It does so through a lens of scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Kind of Things Will Students Do?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This course will incorporate reflective practices and will push students to think across disciplinary boundaries. We will do many activities, for example a healthy home assessment where you will analyze your home for safety, reflect on cultural practices that may impact your report, reflect on changes you can make, and also think about how to advocate for safer housing for yourself and your community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Teaching<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Dr. Lasker has over 24 years of cross-disciplinary, systems-thinking experience in education and organizational leadership. She has focused her career in supporting individuals and organizations across the country in implementing justice- and equity-centered frameworks in academia and industry. Certified Health Coach (CHC). She is also an adjunct Teaching Professor with the University of Washington\u2019s Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) and regularly partners with the DEOHS Continuing Education program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
