The course will meet in person the first and last weeks of the quarter, and otherwise engage in online\/asynchronous (on your own time) content. Through reflective assignments and projects, students will engage in discussions of their motivations for major and career selection, develop a plan for coursework and co-curricular endeavors, and begin a portfolio of work, accomplishments, and experiences related to their first-year experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">During this course students will:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explore the major and minor options at UWB, considering overlap of skills in various sets of majors, and begin to map out a major plan that will meet desired skills and experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive a grounding in the idea of \u2018career competencies\u2019 while building your network of academic and co-curricular experiences to practice and document those competencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Examine and practice principles that will allow you to take your university experience into the workplace and lay a foundation for a successful career<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">At the end of this quarter students will:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrate improved knowledge and skills related to their major or career interest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a plan for the next year to work toward major admission<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a plan for the next year to select co-curricular activities that will support their growth as a student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produce an archive of work and understand that the creation of a portfolio, or work archive, is a key component of planning for post-college plans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Section BCORE 133 B: Health &amp; Natural Sciences <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is for any pre-major student interested in majors and careers in STEM with a focus on health and natural sciences fields.
