Peer coaches are trained peers who help support new first-year students transition into UWB through\u00a0<strong>one-on-one coaching sessions<\/strong>. They utilize effective communication skills to foster a trusting relationship with new students, facilitate goal-setting for personalized growth, and refer students to appropriate resources as necessary. Successful peer coach candidates must exhibit leadership qualities both inside and outside of the classroom, be passionate about helping others, demonstrate organizational skills, and possess a desire to develop their own potential for impact.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-box-shadow is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peer Coaches Will:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Welcome their students at orientation and run a small-group session<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send monthly emails, texts, and calls to schedule coaching sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitate one-on-one coaching throughout fall quarter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Empower coachees to create goals that contribute to their success at UWB<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as a positive role model for new students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage students to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and peers&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect students with clubs, organizations, and on-campus jobs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respond to faculty and staff concerns about first-year students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with other peer coach leads to support students in their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/premajor\/pre-major-students\/meta-major-pathways\">meta-major<\/a>&nbsp;through coaching, outreach, and events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-box-shadow is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compensation and Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$20.76\/hour (likely to increase to $21.30 on Jan. 1 2026)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Academic credit for BCUSP 203<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop Skills in:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Time Management and Prioritization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Speaking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interpersonal Communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structured Goal Setting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exclusive networking opportunities with campus partners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paid professional development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Timeline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This position will begin in Spring Quarter 2026&nbsp;and will last until the end of Fall Quarter 2026 with the possibility to continue to the end of the academic year. Students must take BCUSP 203 in Spring Quarter (M\/W 5:45-7:45pm).
