My name is Nina Platt and I’m so happy to be part of the 2017-2018 Orientation and Transitions team! I started my journey here at UWB just two quarters ago, but I already feel at home here on campus thanks to the fantastic and welcoming Husky community. I am a Junior here at the University and have chosen to major in Community Psychology within the school of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (IAS). I have a passion for education and hope to find a career in academic advising, but I am also interested in the field of human resources. I chose the Community Psychology major because of its flexibility and the wide array of classes offered within the major.
I am a two-year transfer student from Bellevue College and have also studied at Shoreline Community College. I chose UWB for the small class sizes, majors offered and the more compact campus size. I am loving the sense of community and the networking opportunities that the University has to offer in comparison to my community college experience. I feel like there is something for everyone here! I am a member of the Parent Union here on campus which helps to support students with children. Outside of UWB, I spend most of my time with my husband and my two-year-old son. We are a very Pacific Northwest family and enjoy hiking, camping, skiing and generally spending time outdoors. I am also a long-distance runner, and in my free time I can be found logging the miles on the trails by house in North Bend, WA.
Whether you are a first year or a transfer student I am dedicated to making your transition to UWB a positive and welcoming experience. I am so looking forward to meeting all of you and am happy to welcome you to the UWB Husky family!
