Advising & Orientation (A&O) is an opportunity to prepare for your first-year experience at UW Bothell. By attending A&O, you will work with peers, staff, and administrators to connect to resources, build community, and make a plan for your first quarter here at UW Bothell.

Your (A&O) session is designed to build on the knowledge you gained from UWB101.  You may want to give yourself a quick refresh of UWB101 before the session begins.

Managing your Finances 

Learn all you need to know about paying tuition, FERPA regulations, and how to navigate Financial Aid. Your perspective is your reality when thinking of your finances. Join us to learn some tips on how to manage your money, increase your financial knowledge and gain success in navigating the financial portion of your education.

Meet the Pre-Major Academic Advisors and get to know how Academic Advising supports your educational journey.

Meta-Majors are collections of academic majors that have related courses.  Meta-Majors group majors that fit within a career area. This session will give you an overview of the Meta Majors at UW Bothell.

Bystander Intervention

Here at UWB, we want to be a safe campus for all. In this session, you will learn how to be a positive member of our community and what resources exist to support our students.

Day 2

 

To prepare for your first quarter,

  1. Take a look at the Advising Checklist- we will talk more about this during the Welcome to Your Meta Major session from 3:30-5:00
  2. Complete both Directed Self Placements.  These are not tests, they are simply tools to help you choose the course that is right for you.  Both are free and each take less than 20 minutes to complete. It is recommended that all students should complete the DSPs, even if you have college level credit for math or writing.

Immigration Orientation

 

This interactive session is with your International Student Advisors from the Center for International Education. In this REQUIRED session, you will complete your Immigration Check-in, review immigration rules, learn about special campus resources for international students, and connect with current international students.

MANDATORY SESSION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

11:00 - 12:00pm

Understanding Your Transfer Credit

Did you take Running Start or College in the High School credit? This session will help you learn about how to transfer this prior college credit to UW Bothell and how this will impact your academic journey here. 

This session is mandatory for students who have over 30 credits (6 or more classes), but students with any Running Start or College in the High School credits are welcome.  If you have AP or IB credits, check out the Husky+ session.
