Hey, incoming Huskies!
My name is Sahra Salah and this year I am a sophomore here at UWB. I am originally from Seattle, Washington but reside in Kent, Washington as of now. The major I am thinking of going into is Health Studies and with that, I hope to minor in Human Rights because of my love for being a helping people and being the change I want to see in the world. Changing people’s lives and helping them overcome barriers and obstacles that life throws at them would be a dream to live as a career in my future. Traveling the world is also a dream of mine and so hopefully I can do that as well in the future!
If any of you all are going to be living on campus, I can say from experience that I loved living on campus last year because it was really chill and since student housing is apartment- style, you get so much space to live in which is one of the best parts of living on campus! Also, just the community building that goes on while living on campus helped me make new friends in the area which made me more comfortable and outgoing!
Speaking of campus, I am involved in our radio station UWAVE radio which has tons of different shows that cater to different personalities. Our show is called “Kulture” so make sure to check it out if you like kpop. I also try and be a part of the Muslim Student Association and Black Student Union as much as I can.
In the end, I chose to go to UWB because I wanted a school that was close enough to home but also gave me the opportunity to branch out into a new environment and get to know an array of people and I thought UWB would be perfect for me. Going with that, the medium-sized campus and neighborhood seemed very comfy and chill and the class sizes were small and that pulled me in as well. Overall, I have been loving UWB and I hope that you all will feel the same!
