One benefit of the Health Studies degree is the flexibility to develop an area of emphasis within your coursework. As part of the degree, you complete health-related electives approved by Health Studies faculty. These electives are organized into optional interest areas\u2014Health & Life Sciences, Community Health Interventions & Practice, Health & Society, and Health Policy, Leadership, & Ethics<\/strong>\u2014that can help you explore a particular area of health, build deeper knowledge through a focused selection of courses, and prepare for career opportunities in related fields. You are not required to choose an interest area; instead, you can select electives across areas or focus your coursework within an area that reflects your interests and goals. <\/strong>In either approach, your elective coursework provides opportunities to develop knowledge and skills that support your professional development. Course offerings vary by quarter. The electives listed in each interest area are based on the University Catalog<\/a> and may not be offered every quarter.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For prospective transfer students:<\/strong> If you would like to know whether courses you have completed or plan to take at another institution are equivalent to UWB courses within an interest area, meet with a Transfer Admission Counselor<\/a> to discuss course equivalencies and how your transfer coursework may apply to the degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Health & Life Sciences <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The intersection of health and the natural and physical sciences includes prerequisites for advanced study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, and public health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Community Health Interventions & Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Community and population health, including health communication, health promotion, healthcare services, and community-based research and practice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
