Justin Gill, Part-Time Lecturer

Justin Gill, DNP, ARNP, RN, FNP-C
Part-Time Lecturer

Justin Gill is a family nurse practitioner in Washington State and leader in health policy. He currently serves as the Chair of the Legislative/Health Policy Council for the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) and as a member of the ANA Political Action Committee (ANA-PAC) Board of Trustees. He recently served as a member of the ANA Presidential Advisory Taskforce.

Prior to choosing nursing as a profession, Mr. Gill initially expressed an interest in political science. He served as an intern for Congressman Jerry McNerney’s district office in 2008. As a nursing student and professional nurse, he has held leadership positions in his state nursing organizations. He completed a policy and advocacy fellowship with the American Nurses Advocacy Institute (ANAI) and was honored to receive the ANA Nurse Advocate Award in Washington, DC in 2014. He views nursing as an ideal profession that allows for him to blend his passion for politics, advocacy, and health care.

Scholarship

Mr. Gill completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Yale University, with a focus on health policy and leadership. His doctoral project focused on a legislative advocacy strategy to achieve ARNP reimbursement parity in Washington State. As part of this, he led and organized the first political endorsement process for ARNP’s United of Washington, and reached out to 231 state legislative campaigns prior to the 2018 General Election. This project ultimately led to the introduction of legislation in the 2019 Washington legislative session. He continues to work with state leaders and ARNP organizations on ARNP reimbursement parity legislation.
