Academic Retiree and Director of Behavioral Health: School District Program
Annie Bruck came to the University of Washington-Bothell (UWB) in 2013. She has over 25 years’ experience as a clinician, educator and administrator in occupational and environmental health. She serves as the faculty coordinator for UWB’s community health nursing course and affiliate nursing faculty at UW Seattle. She has taught community health at each of the UW campuses. At UWB Annie has also taught courses on nursing leadership, culture and diversity and special topics such as power, control and violence in relationships. She has developed and taught both hybrid and online courses on disaster preparation and community resilience, as well as an introductory “farm to fork” food course for freshmen.
Scholarship
Annie’s scholarship has focused on health promotion and prevention in occupational settings, the acquisition and management of training grants and contracts, and the development of continuing education programs for occupational health providers delivered through in-person, online and hybrid mediums. Upon joining the UWB faculty Annie’s focus turned to the cultivation of community-based partnerships. Emerging scholarship interests include the disruptive impacts emotionally toxic environments and the links between housing and health.
