Inaugural Alumni & Friends Reception
On January 19, 2017, the School held its first-ever Alumni & Friends” reception on the UW Bothell campus. Over 60 alumni, community partners, faculty, staff and students were in attendance. Alumni guests were thrilled to re-connect with former classmates and faculty in addition to having the opportunity to speak with current students from all three of our programs. And everyone was truly inspired by our program award presenters and honorees.
David Allen presented Rosario Reyes from the Latino Educational Training Institute with the school’s “Outstanding Community Partner” award stating that “LETI exemplifies the values and mission of the school at its core.”
Professor Emeritus Mary Baroni was honored to present the “Outstanding Alumni” award to Justin Gill, BSN ’13. Mary shared with the guests, “it was evident, early on, his accomplishments and contributions to the nursing profession in light of his relative youth were exceptional.” Mary even brought one of Justin’s first papers, written for her class!
David Baure, MN ’13 alum gave a great overall welcome and remarks saying this event marks a terrific beginning of the school’s efforts to engage and re-connect with alumni in addition to building and sustaining strong community partner relationships.
Many alumni attendees shared “this is such a fun event – I re-connected with many people I haven’t seen in so long.” Another guest said, “I hope you do this event every year – I want to be sure more of my former classmates attend!”
A BIG thank you to Evergreen Health and Providence Health Services for underwriting some of the costs for this event.
We are pleased to share our event photo album and our slide show of the school’s past and present.
