UW Bothell students who toured the former Firland Sanatorium in Shoreline learned that tuberculosis, a disease usually controlled by antibiotics, is not so far removed in time or distance.
Movies such as “Contagion” and “Outbreak” can be useful in public health classes for discussions about science, global politics and social impacts. Research led by Associate Professor Chris Wade found health-related movies influence students’ career decisions.
The UW Bothell School of Nursing & Health Studies is offering a new minor. The health education and promotion minor prepares students to work at health agencies, nonprofits, schools and insurance companies.
