New Washington state Rep. Jared Mead, 27,was introduced to Olympia politics as a legislative intern when he was a student at UW Bothell (Global Studies ’14).

John Bridge, associate professor of mechanical engineering, is an international expert in synthetic materials used in horse racetracks. His research, with student help, makes racetracks safer for jockeys and horses.
Alexys Smith interned as the assistant coach for the Marysville Getchell High School cheer squad where she had been a cheerleader herself. She learned scheduling, event-planning, marketing and leadership skills while giving back to her community.
