Jane Van Galen, founding director of the education program at UW Bothell, received the 2018 UW Distinguished Teaching Award for Innovation with Technology This is the second straight year the award goes to UW Bothell faculty.
UW Bothell is part of a K-16 partnership with Everett Community College and the public schools in Everett and Marysville to develop their own students into future teachers who more closely reflect their diverse and multilingual communities.
Becoming a school teacher is a great outcome for graduates with the new bachelor’s degree in educational studies. The interdisciplinary degree also is an appealing option for students who might use it in the business world or with nonprofits.
Becoming an instructor is a big step for postdocs thinking of themselves as future faculty. Many from University of Washington campuses and affiliated institutions are finding help with Science Teaching Experience for Postdocs.
Janelle Silva is the recipient of the University of Washington Bothell’s 2016 Distinguished Teaching Award. Silva is an assistant professor of community psychology in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
