Leslie Cornick, the new dean of the School of STEM, is a marine mammal ecologist who has been an associate dean at Eastern Washington University. She is known for efforts to increase diversity in science, technology, engineering and math, and for building industry and community partnerships.

Nearly 1,500 new students arrived on campus for autumn quarter — 829 first-year students and 666 transfers. The official count showed a total of nearly 6,000 students — 5,364 undergraduates and 572 graduate or professional students at UW Bothell.
