{"id":3251,"date":"2017-04-04T14:01:58","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T14:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/?p=3251"},"modified":"2023-06-08T19:46:15","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T19:46:15","slug":"rip-spring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/news\/2017\/04\/04\/rip-spring","title":{"rendered":"Population Health theme of research series"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/rip-spring.jpg\" alt=\"rip spring\" class=\"wp-image-28138\"><\/figure>\n\n<p>Improving public health and well-being is the focus of this spring&rsquo;s University of Washington Bothell Research in Progress series, which features faculty from various disciplines discussing their research.<\/p>\n\n<p>Open to all interested faculty, students and staff as well as alumni and community partners, the eight seminars aim to increase awareness of current research and foster collaboration across disciplines. All seminars are scheduled on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. in LB1-205.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The first presentation on April 4 combines the work of three people: School of STEM Engineering and Mathematics Professor Pierre Mourad, Nursing &amp; Health Studies Associate Professor Jody Early and research engineer Rafael Silva. The subject:  &ldquo;Toward the use of augmented reality, virtual reality and cell phone-based applications to address population health issues.&rdquo; The researchers will review their efforts to support therapists who are starting to use augmented reality to rehabilitate stroke patients.<\/p>\n\n<p>Curated by Wadiya Udell, associate professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts &amp; Sciences, the series also is a 2-credit course, BIS 290.
