{"id":30907,"date":"2024-06-07T10:52:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-07T17:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/news\/?p=30907"},"modified":"2024-06-07T10:52:49","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T17:52:49","slug":"new-role-focuses-on-faculty-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/news\/2024\/06\/07\/new-role-focuses-on-faculty-success","title":{"rendered":"New role focuses on faculty success\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The University of Washington Bothell has named Dr. Wadiya Udell as the associate vice chancellor for faculty success, effective June 1, 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Udell, a professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/ias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">School of Interdisciplinary Arts &amp; Sciences<\/a>, has been serving as interim assistant vice chancellor for faculty success since August 2022. Since joining UW Bothell in 2006, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including as an interim associate dean for faculty development and scholarship for the School of IAS and as a member of the Campus Council for Promotion and Tenure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to extend my gratitude and congratulations to Dr. Udell,\u201d said Dr. Sharon A. Jones, vice chancellor for Academic Affairs. \u201cShe has demonstrated exemplary leadership, and I look forward to working with her to provide our faculty with the resources to be the best they can be for our students and the region.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Udell said she welcomes the opportunity to lead the expansion and restructuring of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/academic-affairs\/faculty-success\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office of Faculty Success<\/a>. \u201cThe restructured office will allow for a more cohesive approach to faculty development and success, and will provide greater coordination of resources to support UW Bothell faculty.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The OFS will include the Office of Sponsored Research and the Learning &amp; Teaching Collaborative, allowing for synchrony between support for faculty pedagogy and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and for more opportunities to support faculty through the grant lifecycle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFaculty are the foundation and are at the heart of UW Bothell\u2019s success,\u201d said Udell.
