{"id":21808,"date":"2022-03-29T15:37:11","date_gmt":"2022-03-29T15:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/?p=21808"},"modified":"2023-06-08T18:20:58","modified_gmt":"2023-06-08T18:20:58","slug":"master-of-nursing-program-retains-top-national-ranking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/news\/2022\/03\/29\/master-of-nursing-program-retains-top-national-ranking","title":{"rendered":"Master of Nursing program retains top national ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>BOTHELL, Washington \u2014 U.S. News &amp; World Report has once again ranked the University of Washington Bothell\u2019s <a href=\"\/mn\">Master of Nursing program<\/a> No. 1 among public schools that offer a master\u2019s degree. The program moved up to the No. 5 position in the nation on the 2023 Best Nursing Schools: Master\u2019s list that also includes private schools.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe coronavirus pandemic has brought into sharp focus the critical importance of the nursing workforce,\u201d said Dr. Shari Dworkin, dean of the School of Nursing &amp; Health Studies. \u201cIt has also illuminated the urgent need for strong leadership in health care organizations.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uwb.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/03\/MN-USNWR-2023-ranking-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23987\" width=\"1280\" height=\"655\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in 1992, the MN program in UW Bothell\u2019s\u202f<a href=\"\/nhs\">School of Nursing &amp; Health Studies<\/a>\u202fnow has three curriculum options: a general track, a nurse education track and an administrative-leadership track, which started in 2016. The latter is in partnership with UW Bothell\u2019s School of Business and provides nurses with policy-related, analytical and organizational acumen \u201cso they can shift from clinical work at the bedside into administrative and leadership positions,\u201d said Dworkin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen students graduate, they report to us that they can speak the language of the boardroom,\u201d she said. \u201cThey take the lead in improving patient care, transforming quality and safety, enhancing the work culture of health care institutions, and promoting positive health outcomes for individuals and communities.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The education track addresses the urgent need for nurse educators in academic settings, health care institutions, community services and schools, while the general track looks to impact the ongoing shortage for nurses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNurses are at the forefront of leading institutional change in health care,\u201d Dworkin said. \u201cOur world-class faculty in the MN program, in collaboration with our health care partners, is well-positioned to lead them in that transformation.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MN ranking is the second year in a row that the School of NHS has been in the top spot for public schools that offer a master\u2019s in nursing, advancing from No. 2 in 2021 and No. 4 in 2020. In the list that also includes private universities, the school moved from No. 12 in 2020 to No. 6 in 2021 and 2022.
