Shankar had served as the interim vice chancellor since June 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shankar will oversee financial planning and accounting, campus facilities and space planning, governmental and community relations, information technology, and human resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shankar has taught in the School of Business at UW Bothell since 2000. His courses include finance, accounting and economics. He received the UW Distinguished Teaching Award in 2008. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before starting his academic career, Shankar worked in multinational companies in India and Nigeria. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting and finance from Bangalore University and the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, and he received his doctorate from Syracuse University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In announcing Shankar\u2019s appointment, Chancellor Wolf Yeigh cited that Shankar has \u201cdischarged the duties of this role for the past two years not only with efficiency and dedication but also with an unwavering commitment to our mission, our strategic priorities and our community.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BOTHELL, Washington &mdash; Dr. Gowri Shankar has been named the vice chancellor for Planning &amp; Administration at the University of Washington Bothell after a University-wide search.
