Fall quarter begins on Sept. 26. In advance of opening the doors to new and returning students, the University of Washington Bothell welcomes faculty new to the campus community. By way of introduction, they are listed below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School of Business <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stephen Jones, assistant professor <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jones has been an assistant professor in management at the University of Wyoming, teaching Business Strategy and Policy, and Organization Design and Change. His research interests include interorganizational collaboration and social network analysis. Previously, Jones worked as a software engineer at Nike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naveen Kumar, assistant professor <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kumar has been an assistant professor at the Department of Business Information and Technology at the University of Memphis. His teaching interests include machine learning and artificial intelligence. His research interests include social networks and predictive modeling. Kumar previously worked at Intel on data analytical methods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Melanie Malone, assistant professor <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Malone has been an assistant professor of physical earth sciences with The Oregon Extension, a nonprofit organization in the Oregon Cascades affiliated with Eastern Mennonite University. She uses interdisciplinary approaches and field-based research in teaching environmental sciences. Malone\u2019s research on agricultural conservation has implications for watershed management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sara Maxwell, assistant professor <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Maxwell has studied the distribution of large marine predators and how they interact with ocean processes. She has worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and at the Marine Conservation Institute in Seattle. Maxwell has been an assistant professor at Old Dominion University in Virginia and has mentored students in science careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Margaret Redsteer, assistant professor <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Redsteer has been a research scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey, leading hazard evaluations, community engagement and outreach projects. Much of her work on climate and ecosystem processes focused on indigenous communities in the Southwest and Great Plains, engaging participatory research that applies traditional knowledge. Redsteer has led workshops and lectured on climate adaptation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School of Nursing & Health Studies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Linda Eaton, assistant professor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Eaton has been a clinical assistant professor in the UW\u2019s Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics since 2016. Eaton\u2019s recent research involves evaluating hypnosis for chronic pain with cancer survivors. An experienced oncology nurse, she received her BSN and Ph.D. in nursing at the University of Washington in Seattle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maureen West, senior lecturer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

West has been a part-time lecturer at UW Bothell since 2012. Her courses have included Population Based Health in Community Practice, and Disability and Society. West also serves as a member of the Western Washington University Board of Trustees, appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to a term through September 2021. She also has experience in Congress and was a staff member for Sen. Robert Dole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Paola Rodr\u00edguezHidalgo, assistant professor, physics <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Rodr\u00edguez Hidalgo has been an assistant professor of astronomy at Humboldt State University in California. Her teaching has included Spacetime & Relativity, Astronomy and Physics. Rodr\u00edguez Hidalgo\u2019s research interests include quasars, X-ray astronomy and physics education. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
