School of Educational Studies<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\tThe new status responds to the tremendous growth of both programs as well as the need to meet the growing demand for highly qualified educators, nurses and administrators in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tThis move comes as UW Bothell enters its 25th year of providing access to the exceptional University of Washington education for students of great potential throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tChancellor Wolf Yeigh says he is thrilled and the new distinction says a great deal about the UW Bothell, which is the fastest growing public institution in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\t\u201cThis new distinction more accurately reflects the significance of the Nursing and Health Studies and Educational Studies programs,” says Yeigh. “They are experiencing continuous growth in enrollment and expansion in relevant offerings. Those successes coupled with the depth of our community partnerships and the impact throughout the region makes UW Bothell the university of choice for students from all walks, including first generation students who account for more than 40 percent of our population.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tYeigh attributes this success to the innovation and leadership provided by David Allen, director of the School of Nursing and Health Studies; and Brad Portin, director of the School of Educational Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\t\u201cIt is because of great leadership that we are able to transition these programs to academic schools,” says Yeigh. I applaud all those involved in making these the new schools and UW Bothell a destination for distinguished faculty and future leaders.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tThree other schools were named in the past two years. In 2012, the university approved the School of Business and the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
