2024 winners<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, the University of Washington recognizes 100 undergraduate and graduate students from the Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses who have made the most of their time at the UW \u2014 inside and outside the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These Husky 100 students actively connect the dots between what they learn in their studies with what they want to do to make a difference on campus, in their communities and for our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six UW Bothell students were selected as part of the Husky 100<\/a> Class of 2024. We are proud to present these honorees here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emerald Chuesh<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

senior \u2013 health studies; biology, neuroscience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy research on mindfulness interventions allows me to work directly with people \u2014 my peers \u2014 and find ways that would reduce their anxiety around exams. This was my first \u201cI can make a difference\u201d moment, and I love creating personal connections through my research. My work at a day camp for children with disabilities solidified my passion for pediatric health and health advocacy for marginalized groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Antonia Dorn<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI started my Husky Experience as a first-generation, low-income, Filipina American student, and I am now a proud Triple-Dawg. I am driven by learning with and from others, and by knowing that in the most uncertain times is where change happens. I will always work for what I believe in because I now believe that I can be a part of the change I want to see in my communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThrough my research endeavors in academic projects and initiatives supporting mental health awareness, I have discovered my passion for using technology for social good and making a meaningful impact on campus and beyond. I have been able to connect different domains with what I have studied in my master\u2019s program and continue to make more interdisciplinary contributions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I had the chance to be mentored, to learn, to grow and to commit to a future in science and research. I also received a Mary Gates Research Scholarship and a NASA Space Grant Consortium Scholarship. Above all, I have a kind mentor who\u2019s instilled in me the courage to pursue all the opportunities ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cmy life goal is to change the world. i plan to ignite new pathways within the long lineages of social justice movements \u2014 to create equitable futures for humanity, specifically those forced into the margins; BIPOC; queer, trans and nonbinary folks like myself; and all their intersections. i embrace silliness and joy and curiosity, because embodying queer and trans joy is a radical act. i strive to move people effectually<\/em> move them into action and change worldviews. As praxis, this is building communal spaces that uplift these communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
