2018 winners <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each year, the University of Washington selects 100 students who are making the most of their Husky experience. Seven UW Bothell students were selected as part of the Husky 100 Class of 2018. What’s special about a Husky 100 recipient? They dare to do. They use what they learn in the classroom to create change in their community. We are proud to introduce our Husky 100 awardees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fahad Alshehri<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

junior – computer science and software engineering<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alshehri values the one-on-one relationships he\u2019s enjoyed with professors. He extends the same attention to the students he helps as a teaching assistant. \u201cWe make sure students get the most out of their computer science and software engineering experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lisa Fryett<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

senior – society, ethics and human behavior<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fryett worked for more than 18 years at Boeing, becoming a project manager in engineering before returning to college. Fryett (Blackfeet) served as a voice for greater support for Native students and for a curriculum that recognizes contemporary as well as historical Native communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tanya Kumar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

senior – law, economics and public policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student body president in 2016-17, Kumar also worked as a cybersecurity intern with T-Mobile, made two trips to India to support stakeholders in gender equality and participated in UW Bothell\u2019s Washington, D.C., Human Rights Seminar. School support \u201chelped drive me places I could have never imagined.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allison Pace<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pace worked as an adviser in career services and co-founded the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. \u201cI wanted to live on campus, work on campus, go to school on campus. If I was going to be here for two years, I wanted to maximize my time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leah Shin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Student body vice president, intern at T-Mobile and creator of a multimedia startup to give Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders a platform to express themselves, Shin is on a mission to help diversify the marketing world. \u201cI dream to be the first person in my family to earn an MBA.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avi Socha<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Socha has tried to spend as much time as possible exploring the world. He volunteered with a nonprofit in South Africa, interned at the U.S. Embassy in Rome and served as a legislative intern in Olympia. \u201cThe best way a student can enrich their Husky experience is to get out of the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warisha Soomro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A class senator in student government, study abroad traveler and member of Muslim and Pakistani student clubs, Soomro said her most impactful experience was as a CEO student ambassador with the Business & Organization Leadership Development program. \u201cEvery step of the way I internalized the lessons about mindset and grit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
