BOTHELL, Wash. – Sixteen University of Washington Bothell undergraduate accounting students participated in the Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) regional competition, held April 15 and 16 in Portland, Oregon. The group secured first place in innovation and third place in sustainability practices.
Students James Sommer and Malick Toguyeni took first place with their project dealing with Global 7 webcasts, interchapter teleconferencing and webcasting, and creating in-house videos. The group’s advisor, Professor Deborah Medlar, was appointed BAP Regional Director for the Western and Northwest Regions, effective August 12, 2012. The region includes a total of 43 chapters.
Business Program Director Sandeep Krishnamurthy announced that the competition will be held at UW Bothell in 2012. “I’m very proud of our performance this year. Hosting this competition on our home turf next year will serve to elevate the stature of our accounting program,” said Krishnamurthy.
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary academic organization for students pursuing degrees and careers in the field of accounting.
