Some of the first graduates in three new degrees at the University of Washington Bothell have something in common: perfect timing. Just as they realized their interests in physics, educational studies or gender, women and sexuality studies, those became majors.
The University of Washington Bothell honored more than 50 businesses and organizations at a luncheon for its community-based, learning and research partners. The partnerships connect curriculum with experience, create opportunities for faculty research and uphold the University’s mission as a state institution.
Bloomberg reports the University of Washington Bothell study “Producing a Worthy Illness: Personal Crowdfunding Amidst Financial Crisis” indicates personal medical campaigns on GoFundMe were likelier to come from people living in states that chose not to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
The Husky 5K on the University of Washington Bothell’s Alumni Weekend drew 800 runners and raised $17,000 for student scholarships. The Bothell Block Party and Brewfest on the afternoon of May 20 drew 2,500 people to enjoy beer, food and live bands.
The University of Washington Bothell Class of 2017 is the largest to date with nearly 2,000 graduates. About 1,400 of them will walk to “Pomp and Circumstance” and receive their degrees Tuesday, June 13, at Safeco Field.
