University of Washington Bothell lecturer Ron Tilden appointed to the board of Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants

BOTHELL, Washington – Ron Tilden, an accounting lecturer in the University of Washington Bothell’s School of Business, has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.

“The society has been an important resource for me in my 37 years of experience in public accounting, private industry and now academia,” said Tilden. “I look forward to continuing to introduce our students to fantastic careers in accounting and connecting them with the many resources of the WSCPA.”

Master’s and undergraduate students will benefit from this interaction, Dean Sandeep Krishnamurthy said in congratulating Tilden.

Tilden holds an MBA from the University of Washington and is a state licensed certified public accountant. Before joining the University of Washington Bothell in 2001, Tilden was the chief financial officer of WRQ, Inc., a software company in Seattle. Earlier in his career, he was CFO of Intermec Technologies Corporation of Everett and held various positions in the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche.

Tilden joined the UW Bothell faculty on a full-time basis in 2007. He helped launch the accounting degree option that accepted its first students in 2008. He also worked with students to launch Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary accounting organization.

Tilden was the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Award, recognized for mentoring students and working with faculty members and the larger business community.

The WSCPA is a professional organization with more than 8,000 members who work in business, education, government and not-for-profit organizations. With headquarters in Bellevue, it provides services for CPAs, educates consumers and encourages students to enter the profession.
