Easier application process for UW Bothell

The University of Washington Bothell has joined the Seattle campus as a member of the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success. This will allow first-year students for fall 2019 to use the same application in applying to these two University of Washington campuses.

The coalition was founded in 2015 with a goal of, among other initiatives, improving the college application process for all students, particularly those from historically under-represented groups. The more than 150 public and private colleges and universities are united in their support of lower-income and under-resourced students and in providing responsible financial aid to those students.

“The coalition aligns well with Bothell’s institutional priorities of student access, affordability and retention,” said Steve Syverson, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management.

The online toolkit, MyCoalition, offers a number of free college-planning tools and resources to engage and encourage students early in their high school careers. Additionally, students may apply to any of the member institutions using the coalition application.

“We believe the coalition will assist many students understand that college can be a reality and that using the same application platform as the UW in Seattle will simplify the process for the multitude of our Washington high school students who apply to both campuses,” Syverson said. “Being included in the coalition app will give us broader access to a large pool of potential applicants.”
